(PREVIOUS WORK)
During my time at Tanner Architects, I had the opportunity to contribute to the design of a coastal retreat overlooking Frederick Henry Bay. May’s Point is designed as a getaway for family and guests - a place to unwind, reconnect, and take in the dramatic beauty of Tasmania’s southern coastline. Set into the natural contours of the land, the home is tucked into the landscape, offering both shelter from the elements and a strong sense of connection to place.
The design is grounded in simplicity and durability. Industrial materials - more often found in commercial settings - are used with care and refinement, creating a tactile and resilient home that can withstand the rugged coastal conditions.
Inside, the architecture steps back to let the landscape lead. The use of natural, honest materials throughout the interior—paired with a sun-filled courtyard protected from the wind - creates a sense of calm and quiet retreat.
This project is a considered response to a special site - one that allows the beauty of the landscape to remain front and centre.
